Didn't do a damn thing -- WMP still couldn't play FLAC files.

good advice: stop using useless WMP

JimiH, on 11 Aug 2011

Funnily, without administrator rights it is not sufficient to run the install.bat as administrator.

Instead, you have to run cmd.exe as administrator, go to the directory where the files were extracted, and then type installfilter madflac.ax

Good stuff, playing flac through WMP is what I wanted. Question though about whether it is sending 24/96 out USB? Not sure where to ask that.

I tried to install it as what was said on Vista for WMP 11 but it didn't work.

Here is what I did to get it working:

- click start and type cmd in search bar
- right click on cmd and run as administrator
- go to the folder where you extracted madflac
- type InstallFilter madFlac.ax and press enter

Here you go, hope it can help

Installed easily and once filter programme installed works well BUT can only play one track at a time of an album. Can anyone help how to get it to play all the tracks on an album rather than having to click each track separately ?

It plays the files fine. But one issue I saw in WMP, When playing the FLAC files, some of the visualizations don't work - neither does the seek button. It just remains stuck on
the left.

Works OK with win7 64bit.
For those with problems, right click on your flac file >select open with Windows Media Player. Check box always use the selected program.
You get a warning that WMP cannot regonize that file. Ignore that and check the box not to warn you again. Play file in WMP.

After the first song, it will regonise your flac files, and you can drag them in the playlist.

Hope this help

Clean install of Win2k SP4, WMP9...installed madflac, rebooted (several times), but no recognition of flac files from WMP. Annoying, because I installed this on another win2k machine previously with no problems.

I have the same problem, did you solve it?I installed madFlac, and received the message The DirectShow filter madFlac.ax was registered successfully.

However, WMP will not play my flac files, and right clicking on a flac file in Explorer does not offer Play with WMP. It offers play with MediaMonkey, which I have been using previously.

Same thing, Spybot terminated installation, so its malware or whatever...DONT WASTE YOUR TIME

Ever hear of a false positive? So many programs come up as malware, dont kid yourself, zomg this is malware and even though its one of the most widely used FLAC decoders and its on a reputable site zomg dont waste your time!

Come on I cant be the ONLY one out here on the net that has never had a virus or spyware and does not use any anti-virus or anti-malware because they are practically worse than the viruses and malware themselves!

Uh, InstallFilter.exe from the package is being blocked by my TrendMicro AV, and then there's this juicy writeup about it: http://www.prevx .com/filenames/1036872200605591526-X1/INSTALLFILTER.EXE.html I'm not saying there's a virus - the warning is very nonspecific and the AV folk sure like to fearmonger and have been known to screw things up here and there, but it sure is determined to not let me run this file.

As for the rating, there should be an N/A option, seeing as I can't get things to work...

If you are having problems installing this.....you have to install the MS-DOS Batch File to load the codec. As well as the filter.exe file. It works great.....

I hope this helps.
