MediaInfo supplies information about multimedia files (only if the information is available in that file): general information (title, author, director, album, track number, date, duration etc); information about the video (codec, aspect, fps, bitrate etc); information about the audio (codec, sample rate, channels, language, bitrate etc); information about the text (language of subtitle); information about chapters (count of chapters, list).

Known formats :

- Audio : MP3, MP4, OGG, WAV, RA, AC3, DTS, AAC, M4A, AU, MIDI, AIFF, AIFC...
- Video : 3GP, AVI, DivX, WMV, MKV, MP4, OGM, QuickTime, Real, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DVD (VOB)...
- Subtitles: SRT, SSA, ASS, SAMI...

Known bugs :

- Languages (other than english and French) : not all words are translated, I need translators!

Changes in MediaInfo 0.7.31 :

- SCTE 20 closed caption support
- Difference between width/height in the container and in the raw stream
- AVC: GOP structure
- MXF: more raw stream formats are detected (MPEG-4 Visual, A-law...)
- DV: Better detection of DVCPRO 50 and 100
- DV: less files without the right extension wrongly detected as DV


Important Notes :

- MediaInfo installer is bundled with "OpenCandy". However, you may continue the installation process without installing it.
- WARNING FOR Windows95, Windows98 and Windows Milenium USERS : The following has to be installed, it enables the Unicode functionality for those OSes: Microsoft Layer for Unicode on Windows 95/98/ME Systems (MSLU)
