Features of LAV Filters 0.5:
• Note that this list only lists properly tested formats/codecs, many others may just work!
- Containers:
MKV/WebM, AVI, MP4/MOV, MPEG-TS/PS (including basic EVO support), FLV, OGG, and many more that are supported by ffmpeg!
- Video Codecs:
H264, VC-1, MPEG-2, MPEG4-ASP (Divx/Xvid), VP8, MJPEG and many more.
- Audio Codecs:
AAC, AC3, DTS(-HD), TrueHD, MP3/MP2, Vorbis, LPCM and more.
- Subtitles:
VOB, DVB Subs, PGS, SRT, SSA/ASS, Text
- BluRay Support:
Support for opening BluRay playlists (.mpls), as well as the index.bdmv file, which will try to detect the main movie playlist!
BluRay support is still in an early stage, and there are still many improvements and new features planned!
Other Notable Features:
- Full Stream switching
- MKV Embedded Fonts
- Audio Bitstreaming (through LAV Audio)
Important Notes:
- Some other splitters register in a "bad" way and force all players to use them. The
Haali Media Splitter is one of those, and to give priority to the LAVFSplitter you have to either uninstall Haali or rename its .ax file at least temporarily.
- Not all containers are equally supported, so some formats may fail in one container and work in another.
Also note that "tested" doesn't mean it won't fail eventually. There are many combinations of codecs, and its impossible to test all of them for developer.

i use this since lav cuvid decorder was integrated, it is great and awesome using nvidia cuda to decode many kind of files using all the power of your nvidia gpu, you can also use dxva on nvidia and ati-amd
really easy to use with media player classic HC, easy to setup,
the bad thing is that mpeg4 decode on cuda does not works, but is not a big problem, just disable it then the cpu will decode it

The LAV filters are really impressive and to me, they seem to work a heck of a lot better than the FFDshow filters.
I don't use the LAV Audio yet, because I'd like to see a few more interesting features added before I decide on using it. Otherwise, the filters are great and I plan on using them for a long time.
Definitely recommended.

This filter is excellent.
I have used it since I knew it several months ago.
Switching other splitter with this, most of the problems are solved, especially some video can\'t be played or no sound during playing, then switching the splitter with this.
This splitter works most of the format.
Really excellent!!!!
